Drift Cottage is family run Historic Fishermans Cottage.Retaining all of its old world charm with the convenience of modern bathrooms, kitchen and appliances. Renovated throughout in 2023 to a high standard. Located centrally in Brixham’s Harbour bowl and only a minutes stroll to local shops and restaurants. Our retreat dates back to 1807 and retains many of its unique features. This fully equipped three bedroom holiday cottage sleeps six (max 4 adults 2 children) with two bathrooms and has all you require for a luxurious stay in this idyllic corner of South Devon.

The cottage is laid out over four floors linked by a traditional roped staircases. Much of the property is wooden panelled and a number of original ships timbers are part of the rafters and joists.Windows are shuttered in the traditional style and the living room has beamed ceilings and a wood burning fire. A modern Valiant gas boiler and central heating were installed in 2023.The dining room is accessed through an old stone arch and has stone walls with exposed rafters. The room has an in-built larder housing a large fridge freezer. The Kitchen is compact but perfectly formed, has solid oak worktops, dishwasher, integral microwave and electric oven. All other appliances and coffee maker are present.
The bathrooms in the house are also brand new. Both are panelled with one having a bath & luxury shower sink and W.C. The other is a shower room with W.C and sink. Both main bedrooms have been completely refurbished and have wooden floorboards, original fireplaces, shuttered windows. The pink room has a king size bed and luxury mattress whilst the Captains room has a super king size bed. Luxury cotton bedding and towels are supplied(please do not take towels off-site and ensure you bring your own separate beach towels etc). The loft room at the top of the house has two single beds (big enough for teenagers) and has a stair guard and black out blind built in. Outside is a pretty walled courtyard garden, parasol, tables and chairs, perfect for outdoor dining. A small barbecue is also available.
Conveniently, the town is home to three supermarkets, all a mere five-minute walk from Drift Cottage. You’ll also find fruit and vegetable stalls, butcheries, gift boutiques, art galleries, a camera store and even a vintage record store. Fresh fish can be purchased directly from the market, or at Stefan’ fish shop. For those that like to shop, there are numerous boutiques where you will be able to find unique gifts as well as practical items to meet most needs. Consider spending your day deep sea fishing or spotting dolphins.
There are also notable National Trust Properties, including Greenway, Agatha Christie’s former mansion, Colyton Fish Acre, the Steam Railway and the ferry to Dartmouth or Torbay. Brixham boasts a vibrant theatre scene with regular performances, two museums and several festivals throughout the year. There are a number of excellent beaches nearby. Fishcombe & Churston Coves are a short walk away, as is St Marys Bay, the Breakwater beach and the saltwater pool at Shoalstone.
We are spoiled by a large number of excellent seafood restaurants and public houses which makes this a year round location & a fantastic base for your Summer holidays or weekend getaway.
To book, pricing ranges between £165-£185 per night depending on the time of year and season, excluding New Year, Christmas and Bank Holidays where pricing may vary.
We require a three night minimum stay during ‘off peak’ season and some ‘peak’ season stays require a minimum of seven nights duration.
